Women In The Church
The Symbol of women in the church is an old fashioned kerosene lamp.
The lamp symbolizes the spiritual life of godly women and our obedience to Christ’s command to shine as lights to a darkened world. In order for the lamp to give light, it must be filled with oil.
Similarly, the believer’s life must be filled with the oil of the Holy Spirit.
As the wick rests in the oil and is fully saturated with it, so we must rest in God and draw our spiritual life and strength from Him.
The knob on the side of the lamp represents the Bible, because our lives will only shine brightly, as we are daily regulated and trimmed in obedience to his revealed will.
The clear glass chimney must be kept clean. A dirty chimney is like obvious sin, preventing others from seeing the light of Christ in our lives.
